Carpinteria falters in later sets

The Carpinteria girls volleyball team started strong in their Frontier League opener at home against Santa Clara, but was unable to recover after losing a close second set, and lost the match in four games.

The scores in the match were 25-16, 27-29, 11-25, and 22-25.

Morgan Wallace had 10 kills and four aces on the night, while Kylie Augerot has 12 digs, and Rubi Briceno added four more aces.

With two players out sick, the Warriors had to shuffle players around to different positions, and had a thin bench for the night.

“A lot of what they need to get in contol of is the mental part of it,” head coach Katie Dolge said about her team, which showed early that it had the ability to win the match.

Carpinteria (1-5 overall, 0-1 league) will break from Frontier League competition to host Cate tomorrow.
