Bryant untouchable, Warriors overcome slow start to win

While the Carpinteria girls tennis team had some difficulties early in its match at Santa Paula, Kelsie Bryant continued to tear through her opponents and won all her matches 6-0 as her team pulled out a 12-6 victory.

The doubles teams of Katherine Delk/Natalie Saito and Lesly Zapata/Erin Saito were also undefeated.

The first two rounds were close, and the Warriors held a slight 7-5 edge going into the home-stretch.

Heading into the final round of matches, Carpinteria got its second wind and won five out of six to earn a 12-6 win.

“We were a little sluggish at the start and Santa Paula is a much improved team but we were able to pull it together and play much stronger down the stretch,” head coach Charles Bryant said.

Carpinteria (8-1 overall, 5-0 leauge) continues its season tomorrow at home against Thacher.
