Wisma shoots 75; Vaqueros place 5th at Desert Classic

Sophomore Emily Wisma fired a season-best 3-over-par 75 on Saturday as SBCC took fifth place in the Desert Classic women’s golf tournament at Indian Canyons Resort in Palm Springs.

Palomar won the 11-team, two-day event with 600 strokes, seven better than Glendale. Santa Barbara shot 318 in the final round to finish in fifth place with 638 strokes.

Freshman Kristin Discipulo turned in her second straight 78 and led the Vaqueros at 156. Wisma (84-75) and Nicole Bullemer (80-79) both shot 159.

Malea Miller (66-72) of Bakersfield was the medalist at 138.

“Good things are happening, we’ve just been a little inconsistent,“ said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez.

The Vaqueros will host WSC No. 2 on Monday at the Santa Barbara Golf Club, starting at 10:30 a.m.
