The Carpinteria boys water polo team lost 6-4 at home against Villanova in a defensive battle.
Goalie Jacob Pate continued his excellent season with a another gem in which he had 13 saves.
“[He] had a phenomenal game,” head coach Brian Swarm said. “It was one his best games of the year. Obviously, we needed it.”
The limited amount of offense for the Warriors was balanced as Cole Gill, Alan Chavez, Ben O’Hara, and Dylan Hathaway each had one goal.
Villanova made a run and scored two straight goals at the beginning of the second half, and that proved to be the difference in the Tri-Valley League match.
“The first couple goals in in the third quarter put us in a a hole and it was hard to come out of,” Swarm said.
Carpinteria (6-10 overall, 1-1 league) continues its season Wednesday at Cate.
