San Marcos golf coach Shawn Ricci likes what he sees in his team.
“This season they have been working hard to both fix and manage their mistakes on the course and today they did exactly that,” Ricci said after the Royals beat Buckley 267-275 at par 34 Westlake Golf Course.
Melissa Jewkes led the Royals with a 44, one shot behind medalist Ali Eicher of Buckley.
Brittany Peretiako fired a 52, Emily Peterson a 53 and Kelset Gellert a 55 for San Marcos.
“They are understanding that they are playing the course and are continuing to analyze each hole and subsequent shot,” Ricci said of his players. “I am very proud of their final results and they all said they felt confident with their outcome today.”
