Locals reunite at the Stanford Invitational

The Stanford-Notre Dame women’s volleyball match on Friday brought four former local prep standouts together on the court.

Carly and Sam Wopat of the Cardinal hooked up with their former Dos Pueblos teammate Sammie Brown and ex-Santa Barbara High star Kristen Dealy before they played against each other in the Stanford Invitational.

Carly Wopat tied her career high of nine blocks, had 13 kills and hit .600 to help Stanford win the match in four games, 25-12 25-13, 21-25. 25-23, and hand the Irish their first loss of the season.

Sam Wopat contribute four kills for the No. 6-ranked Cardinal.

Dealy had seven kills and 10 digs, and Brown had one kill and eight assists coming off the bench for Notre Dame.

The Wopats and Brown are sophomores and Dealy is in her senior season.
