The San Marcos High boys water polo team won their first two games at the Riverside Invitational behind strong offensive efforts from Shane Hauschild and Kevyan Golizadeh.
In the first match against Murietta Mesa, Hauschild and Golizadeh each had five goals and Ben Battles added four more on the way to an 18-6 rout. Goalie Parker Woodward had seven saves.
San Marcos faced Corona Centennial in their next match, and dispatched of their second opponent in similar fashion. Golizadeh again had five goals while Hauschild had four and the Royals won 16-6.
“We played solid defense today and were able to spread the scoring out a little bit,” head coach Jeff Ashton said.
San Marcos (6-1) will continue tournament play in Riverside tomorrow.
