Addi Zerrenner has set the bar high for the remainder of her cross country career at Dos Pueblos.
In her first varsity race, the sophomore ran the 5-k course at the Great Cow Run in Cerritos in 16:59, winning the race and beating the previous course record by 16 seconds.
In the boys races, DP junior Bryan Fernandez ran a personal best 14:43, and was 50 yards ahead of the rest of the pack. Other notable times were Max Davis at 15:16, Ben York at 15:30, Tyler Bradford at 15:43, and Dylan Zukin in 16:03. The Charger boys finsihed fifth out of 28 teams in the race, and were third amongst Division II schools.
The other DP girls who posted scoring times were Emma Redick at 19:29, Elaine McClure at 19:30, Cheryl Wilson at 20:54, and Marika Schipper in 21:10. The girls finished eighth overall.
Head coach Leslie Wiggins-Roth set the tone for her team by winning the women’s division at the Higashi Roman Memorial Race, which took place before the high school races. Roth ran the course in 19:18 and set a new course record.
Selected runners from the Dos Pueblos team will compete at the Ojai Invite on Sept. 17, and Channel League competition starts on Sept. 21.
