Chargers show good balance in win over Ventura

Dos Pueblos shot another low score to beat Ventura in a Channel League golf match on Tuesday at Buenaventura Golf Course.

The Chargers, coming off a season-low 214 at Glen Annie GC, fired a 218 to Ventura’s 242.

“The weather was once again perfect with the wind at Buenaventura golf course being almost still,” co-coach Dan Choi said. “The only thing holding the scores back were the punched greens. However, even with the tricky greens we are very happy to turn in a good score for an away match.”

Charger senior Vanesa Villa was the match medalist with a 4-over par 39, and her four teammates all shot in the 40s.

“The team is doing a good job of different individuals stepping up when other team members may be struggling a bit. Today, Leah Dunn tied her seasonal low of 43 while freshman Miraya Ramirez posted a 46 to give her her lowest score so far this season.”

Dos Pueblos is 6-3 overall and 3-0 in league play, while Ventura is 3-4, 1-2.
