The Cate School boys water polo team were on the wrong end of a rout against Santa Ynez and lost at home 21-2.
The seniors kept fighting all the way through the game, with co-captains Greg Cusack and Miles Barney scoring the lone goals for the Rams. Goalie Jacob Winnikoff also had an excellent game, despite the offensive bombardment by the Pirates.
“He will perhaps be the singlemost important factor in Cate’s success this year, and hopefully the team canbuild upon his consistency on the defensive end,” Cate head coach Nathan Alldredge said about his goalie.
Cate (1-1) continues their season on Saturday at home against Hueneme.
