Carpinteria beats Santa Paula in league opener

Kelsie Bryant dropped only one game in winning her three sets and led the Carpinteria High girls tennis team to a 13-5 win over Santa Paula in a Tri-Valley League match on Tuesday.

Carpinteria’s No. 1 doubles team of Erin Saito and Lesly Zapata went 3-0 and lost only two games.

“We beat a strong Santa Paula team who finished second in the league last year and lost only two players to graduation from that team,” said Carpinteria coach Charles Bryant.

Carpinteria results—Kelsie Bryant 3-0, Tess Pitzer 1-2, Kassandra Ni 2-1. Doubles—Erin Saito-Lesly Zapata 3-0, Katherine Delk-Natalie Saito 2-1, Shanya Norman-Cat Maldonado 2-0, Norman-Jessica Macias 0-1.
