OJ helps U.S. cruise past Somogyi, Hungary

In a battle between UCSB basketball teammates, Orlando Johnson outscored and outrebounded Greg Somogyi in Team USA’s 102-53 romp over Hungary in a group-play game at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China on Sunday.

Johnson scored seven points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds while the 7-3 Somogyi tallied six points and had three rebounds in 20 minutes of action.

John Jenkins set a U.S. World University Games record by making six 3-pointers.

The USA sank 12 threes overall and all 12 players scored for a second-consecutive game, Its defense starved Hungary and allowed just one made field goal in the first quarter and 34.5 percent shooting (20-58 FGs) for the game.
