Garza named to CSN preseason All-American

Junior forward Sam Garza has been named a Second Team Preseason All-American by College Soccer News it was announced on Friday. Garza is one of 33 players nationally that has been picked for this honor and one of nine forwards.

The defending Big West Co-Offensive Player of the Year led the Gauchos with nine goals and added six assists for a team-leading 24 points in 2010.

Garza is not the only Gaucho that has been noticed on the national level heading into the 2011 campaign. Three Gauchos have been listed on Top Drawer Soccer’s “Joe’s Big Board” – a listing of the top prospects for professional soccer.

Senior midfielder Luis Silva has been listed at No. 19 among college seniors. Sophomore forward David Opoku and junior midfielder Machael David, have been ranked sixth and 19th, respectively, on the underclassmen list.
