Former Dons star Perry qualifies for U.S. Amateur

Santa Barbara’s Jack Perry qualified for the U.S. Amateur golf championship by winning  a qualifying tournament in Waukegan, Ill.

Perry, who led the Dons to the CIF State championship in 2010 and just completed his freshman season at Northwestern University, shot a 4-under 136 at the par 70 Glen Flora Country Club. He won by two strokes after shooting rounds of 69-67.

The top four finishers qualified for the U.S. Amateur on Aug. 22-28 at Erin Hills Country Club in Wisconsin.

Perry, who won the Oxnard City Championship last month, is currently playing in the Western Amateur in Chicago.
