Forester game called in 7th inning due to darkness

The visiting Team Vegas had problems with its bus and arrived 50 minutes late for Saturday’s game with the Santa Barbara Foresters.  Due to the delayed start, the game was stopped after the seventh inning because of darkness.  The score was tied 4-4, and the final two innings will be played out starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The game delay adds to the drama of an exciting California Collegiate League title race between the Foresters and the San Luis Obispo Blues.  The Foresters must win both of their remaining games tomorrow to clinch their 16th CCL championship.

In Saturday’s game, Santa Barbara had another rough start.  Starting pitcher Cody Morehouse (Houston) gave up a three-run home run to Team Vegas outfielder Chris Kaplan (Southern Nevada) in the first innings.

James Wharton cut the lead with a mammoth shot over the scoreboard in the left field at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. But Team Vegas got the run back in the next inning to increase their lead to 4-1.

The Foresters rallied in the sixth inning.  Derek Legg (CSU Fullerton) had an RBI-ground-out and Joe Wallace (UCSB) had a two-RBI-single to tie the game at 4-4.

All Forester games are broadcast on AM 990 KTMS and www.sbforesters.org.
