Royals let a lead get away in seventh inning

San Marcos gave up two runs with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, and the Royals dropped a 4-3 non-league baseball game to Nordhoff on Monday.

Ghazaleh Sailors entered the game for Will Proctor with the bases loaded. She got the Nordhoff hitter to ground the ball to third base, but the ball got past the third baseman and two runs scored, giving the Rangers a 4-2 lead.

San Marcos tried to rally in the bottom of seventh. Riley Moore hit ball that the Nordhoff center field couldn’t come up with and Mamud Al ghazzi scored. The next batter flew out to end the game.

“We continue to give more outs away,” said San Marcos coach Tony Vanetti of the misplay in the seventh.

Lino Reveles drove in Moore in the first inning to end a four-game scoreless drought for the Royals (2-16). They added another run in the second.
