Andrew Perez, a former Santa Barbara High and SBCC player, shot a 7-under 65 for College of the Desert in the opening round and was the only player to finish under par with a 6-under 138 at the Community College State Championships at Kings Country Club in Hanford
Perez topped the 60-player field by six shots. Chabot edged Desert for the team title 754-756.
