Dons come one point shy of tennis shutout

Santa Barbara tennis was one point away from sweeping Buena on Friday, winning 17-1.

Dons doubles swept Buena and earned 9 points. Duo Mitchell Kuhn and Penn Stussy went 3-0 and led the way for Santa Barbara.

Dons singles were one point shy of the sweep. Morgan Hale and Ryan Chung were each 3-0.

“It was a good overall team effort from Santa Barbara,” Dons coach Greg Tebbe said. “I liked the intensity from start to finish. Buena has some good players, especially in singles, and I like the way our guys stayed focused throughout the match.”

Santa Barbara rested several starters.

“We were able to rest some of our starters today and the rest of the team took advantage of the playing opportunity and really stepped up,” said Tebbe.

Santa Barbara high jumped to 7-1 with the win.

Tebbe looks to face some tough competition in the near future.

“Our team is looking forward to next week when we play three important league matches all on the road against Ventura, San Marcos, and Dos Pueblos.”
