Ventura’s offense was on fire Tuesday, roughing up San Marcos pitching for runs in every innning in a 16-6 Channel League win over the Royals that was called on a mercy rule after 4 1/2 innings.
The Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and kept pounding away at the Royals, who fell to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in league.
Joceyln Flattery and Kristen Berlo each had two hits for San Marcos, which was guilty of seven errors.
