Rio Mesa rallies back to edge San Marcos

San Marcos gave up a game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh to lose to Rio Mesa 3-2 on Friday.

Royals catcher Riely Moore hit a solo homerun in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 2-0.

Rio Mesa came back with two runs in the sixth the tie up the game at 2.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Rio Mesa was able to bring in the winning run off a single hit over the shortstops head.

Will Proctor pitched a complete game for San Marcos, striking out three without giving up a walk.

“Will pitched really well. He stayed ahead of the count and kept them off balance for the most part,” said coach Tony Vanetti

San Marcos dopped to 2-11 with the loss, and look to play Santa Barbara on Tuesday at home.
