No. 64 UCSB drops match to No. 65 UC Davis, 5-2

DAVIS —  The No. 64-ranked UCSB women’s tennis team lost its match to No. 65 UC Davis 5-2, in its return to Big West Conference play Saturday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

The Gauchos and Aggies entered the match with identical conference records at 4-1, but Davis took control of the contest by winning five of the six singles matches on the day.

Santa Barbara started out strong securing the doubles point with wins at courts No. 2 and No. 3. Sofia Novak and Michelle Murphy defeated Ellie Edles and Nicole Koehly 8-5 in their debut together at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, Novak picked up the only win of the day for the Gauchos defeating Dahra Zamudio 6-3, 4-6, (10-6) at court No. 2.

The Gauchos next match is Sunday, April 10 at Pacific beginning at 11 a.m.
