Cate’s Robert Fairbanks was one hit shy from pitching a no-hitter on Tuesday against rival Thacher in an 11-0 Condor League rout.
Fairbanks struck out seven and moved to 4-0 with the 5-inning mercy-rule win.
Cate, ranked third in CIF Division 7, moved to 10-0.
Cate head coach Ben Soto credited pitching coach Mike Beamer and the job he’s done this season to help improve the Rams performance on the mound.
“You can tell our pitching under coach Mike Beamer is going well,” said Soto.
Eric Lowe and Carlos Fairbanks were each 2-3, and Zach Ell pitched in with a triple in the second inning.
