Errors prove costly for Laguna Blanca in loss to Windward

Laguna Blanca volleyball lost to Windward on Saturday in four games, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 25-14.

The Owls played aggressive volleyball, but it was the 42 errors that held them from breaking through, especially in the 11-point loss in the final game.

“What it comes down to is making fewer mistakes than the other team while still playing aggressive. We did that for the most part until Game 4,” said coach Dillan Bennett. “When we figure out how to balance playing aggressive with errorless volleyball, we will be tough to stop.”

Peter Sorenson hit a team-high 13 kills on 15 attempts. Jack Stegall also had a standout performance, pitching in 9 kills on 14 attempts in his first match as middle blocker.

Sophomore setter J.T. Aubery led the team with 46 assists, one ace and three digs.

Laguna Blanca dropped to 7-11 overall, and remain 3-0 in league.

The Owls face Cate School at home on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
