DP girls break 20-year-old school mark in 4×100 relay

After flirting with the record for the last two years, the Dos Pueblos girls broke the school mark in the 4×100 relay at the Mt. SAC Invitational on Saturday.

The team of Melissa Motyer, Erin Ristig, Marina Plesons and Jessica Escalante clocked 49.16 to erase the previous record of 49.32, set in 1992. They finished fifth in the open division race, won by Roosevelt in 47.65.

In other news at the meet, Nick Scarvelis increased his state-best shot put mark to 64-5.5 to win the invitational competition. His previous best was 64-1.75. He also finished third in the invitational discus at 172-8.
