DP can’t match the firepower of Calabasas

Jared Madison of Dos Pueblos knocked off a highly ranked junior player for the Chargers’ only singles point in a 15-3 loss against undefeated Calabasas on Wednesday.

“We knew we would have a tough match, as this team holds an overall recod of 12-0 and has three ranked juniors, Jake Klein (No. 35 in boys 16s), Brett Buford (No. 73) and Adam Shapiro (No 108 in boys 18s),” said DP coach Liz Frech.

Madison outlasted Klein in a tiebreaker.

In doubles, DP played a lot of close sets but could only win two by Eric Katz and Alex Yang.

“Overall, the Chargers fought hard for every point and, in some sets, climbed back from deficits. The Coyotes proved too deep,” said Frech.

DP (5-4) plays San Marcos in a Channel League match on Monday.
