Depew swims one for the San Marcos record books

Dasha Depew broke a 25-year old San Marcos school record in the 100 butterfly against Orcutt Academy on Friday, posting a time of 1:02.26 to beat the previous mark of 1:02.51 set by Jo Wallschlaeger in 1985.

Depew rounded off her dominant day by helping the relay team of Amanda Underwood, Sara Thwing and Ashley Wagner finish with season best times in both the 200 freestyle (1:43.30) and the 400 freestyle (3:45.99)

Royals freshman diver Emilie Mahoney posted a CIF consideration score of 311.45 in just her second 11-dive meet competition.

San Marcos boys had several fast swims, with Kristian Sloan winning the 200 freestyle in 2:01.28 and the 100 freestyle in 55:93.

Abhi Frandsen won both the 50 freestyle (24:04) and the 500 freestyle (5:29.28)

Friday’s victory against Orcutt Academy marks the end of the regular season, as the Royals girls team finished 5-3.
