CIF Polls: Chargers baseball rewarded for win streak

Dos Pueblos’ recent 12-game winning streak hasn’t gone unnoticed. The Chargers appeared in Southern Section’s Division II rankings for the first time this season, entering the polls as the No. 5 team.

The Chargers are 12-2 heading into their Channel League bye week. The Chargers host St. Bonaventure on Tuesday and travel to Agoura for a Saturday game.

Santa Barbara High’s team, meanwhile, plummetted from No. 1 to just outside the top-10. The Dons started the season 10-1 but briefly lost their footing with a three game losing streak. Santa Barbara has since won two straight and faces Buena in a home-and-away Channel League set this week.

Like Dos Pueblos, Cate has moved to its highest ranking of the season as the No. 4 team in Division VII. The Rams are undefeated at 6-0.

In softball, Dos Pueblos is the No. 6 team in Division IV while Carpinteria remains No. 3 in Division VI.

Santa Barbara High’s boys volleyball and boys tennis team have been entrenched in the top-ten of Division I all season. The Dons boys volleyball team moved up three spots this week to No. 7 while the boys tennis team is also No. 7.

Cate’s boys tennis team is No. 9 in Division IV.
