Carpinteria golf wins first league game

Carpinteria golf won its first match in the Frontier League on Tuesday, shooting a 444 at Mountain View in Santa Paula, a par 70 course.

Villanova was a close second, shooting 446 for the day, while Santa Clara (484), Fillmore (492), Santa Paula (497), and Bishop Diego (553) rounded off the day.

The five scorers for Carpinteria were only seperated by only five shots. Jeffrey Moorhouse led the Warriors with a score of 86, while Alex Warner and freshman Ian Praddock both shot an 87. Joey Biro pitched in with 91, while Max Vincent finished with a 93.

“We had a balanced team effort,” explained coach Steve Benson. “The kids played pretty well, and they’re really improving.”

Jack Killion from Villanova Prep was the medalist for the day, scoring an 80.

Carpinteria is 6-3 overall.
