Errors prove costly for Bishop in 8-4 loss to Villanova

Bishop Diego baseball was topped by Villanova in a Frontier League baseball game, 8-4, falling into a first-place tie with the Wildcats in the Frontier League.

The two teams play again Thursday at Bishop Diego.

Bishop Diego scored four runs in the second after a triple by Reese Moulton to drive in Hank Vanderfin, and a single by Scott Mandrell to score Moulton and Jacob Salcedo.

Up 4-2 going into the sixth, the Cardinals let the game slip from their grasp after allowing Villanova to score five unearned runs.

“Villanova’s pitcher (John Woodcock) played really well against us last time out. I’m proud of our guys for the way they battled against him today. We played much better,” said coach Dan Yokubaitis

Cate moved to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in league.
