Stegall steps up his play; Owls finish off Flashes

Jack Stegall had the biggest match of his career, blasting 12 kills on 16 attempts, to lead Laguna Blanca to a 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-7 win at Fillmore in a non-league boys volleyball match on Thursday.

“Jack careered tonight,” coach Dillan Bennett said. “Tonight he realized what he can accomplish when he tries his best and focuses on each play. Now that Jack knows what he’s capable of, he knows what he needs to do to stay at this level. He played All-League tonight.”

Stegall also picked up five digs.

Spencer Dusebout played a solid all-around match with 14 kills, 17 digs and eight service aces. Peter Sorensen added four kills and three aces, and Pascal Karam had 15 digs, four kills and four aces.

“We picked up the tempo and energy in the second game, which carried over to the next two games. Spencer served great all night,” said Bennett.
