Snyder, Bolanos behind Vaqueros’ rout

Stephanie Bolanos drove in three runs and SBCC erupted for six runs in the top of the sixth on Tuesday to defeat L.A. Valley 12-2 in a nonconference softball game at Valley Glen. The contest was shortened to six innings by the eight-run rule.

Kailey Snyder (4-1) pitched a two-hitter with four strikeouts, one walk and one hit batter. Snyder, who also went 2-4 at the plate, has allowed just eight hits in her last three outings.

Carly Smith went 2-4, Maryann Giles was 2-2 and Laura Cannon had a two-run double during the six-run uprising. Joan Cannon tripled for the second straight game.

The Vaqueros (4-1) scored two in the first and three in the third to take a 5-0 lead. They’ve scored first in all four wins this year.

“When we score first, it seems to settle us in and we continue our aggressiveness throughout the game,” said coach Paula Congleton.

The Vaqueros will play in the 12-team Fresno Tournament this weekend. On Saturday, they’ll face College of the Siskiyous at 1 p.m. and Victor Valley at 3 p.m.
