San Marcos girls beat Buena, boys edged by 7 points

Hannah McDaniel won the high jump and 400 meters to pace the San Marcos girls to an 86-46 dual meet victory over Buena in a Channel League track meet on Wednesday at Valley Stadium.

The San Marcos boys suffered a tough 67-60 loss. The turning point was dropped baton in the 4×400 relay.

McDaniel cleared 5-foot-5 in the high jump and ran a 58.8 400.

Other highlights for the girls: Elysia Hodges winning the 300 hurdles in 45.81 and took second in the 100 hurdles; Kira Plymire took the 100 hurdles in 16.62 and finished second in the 300 hurdles; Kelsey Hyatt won the shot put at 31-9; Christina Khalil captured the long jump at 15-2 and was second in the triple jump at 31-6.

Highlights for the Royals boys included Randy Harvey, first in the 100 in 11.38 and second in the 200 in a PR of 22.82; Shane Rowan took first in the triple jump with a leap of 44-9 1/2 and won the long jump at 20-5; Phil David took the 800 in 2:01 and freshman Eric Salas had a pair of seconds in the mile (4:43) and two mile.
