Salcedo sends Cardinals offense soaring

Hank Vanderfin closes out the game for Bishop Diego in their lopsided win against Kilpatrick.

Jacob Salcedo was perfect at the plate on Friday, going 4-for-4 in a 16-0 victory for Bishop Diego over visiting Kilpatrick in a 4 1/2 inning game.

The Cardinals (3-1) have outscored their last two opponents 32-0.

Salcedo recorded a double and three singles while knocking in four runs. John Salda was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and Scott Mandrell also got two hits.

Cody Yokubaitis was the winner for Bishop Diego for shutting out Kilpatrick over four innings. Hank Vanderfin closed the door in the fifth.

The Cardinals face Nordhoff on Wednesday in a non-league contest before opening up Frontier League play on Friday at Santa Clara.
