Royals romp in season opener

The senior-laden San Marcos boys volleyball opened the season with impressive sweep over Oxnard, winning 25-17, 25-9, 25-11, on Tuesday night

“We got off to a great start,” San Marcos coach Roger Kuntz said.

Johnny Manzo paced the Royals with 17 kills on 23 attempts. Zach Yinger pounded 9 on 14 attempts and Jackson Kunz delivered five kills.

Setter Neil Holliday handed out 31 assists.

The Royals host Bishop Diego on Saturday.

“We’re anxious to keep the ball rolling,” said Kuntz.
