Seniors Jackson Foster and Jackson Mann played doubles together for the first time with good results, but San Marcos’ boys tennis team fell to Valencia 11-7 on Tuesday in the Royals’ season opener.

Mann and Foster won their three sets 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-0.

“Jackson and Jackson played more confidently as the match progressed and showed great senior leadership,” Bradley said. “They made a high percentage of their first serves in their final two sets which allowed them to finish off easy points at the net.”

Petar Jivkov claimed San Marcos’ only sets in singles by winning two of his three. Nik Kilpelainen and Garrett Timmons won two of three win doubles.

Valencia improves to 2-0 while San Marcos is 0-1.

Weather permitting, the Royals host Camarillo on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
