Maldonado pitches a no-hitter against Mission Prep

Carpinteria’s Catalina Maldonado pitched a no-hitter against Mission Prep in San Louis Obispo Tuesday, winning 16-0. The game lasted only 5 innings due to the mercy rule.

Maldonado  struck out nine of the 15 hitters she faced.

“They just couldn’t hit against Catalina,” said head coach Henry Gonzales.

She also went 4-for-4 at the plate.

Carpinteria started the game out strong, scoring seven  runs in the first inning, capitalizing on several walks and a combined four hits. The Warriors added another eight runs by the second with another four hits and multiple walks.

“It was a good all around effort by everyone. We had zero errors and played good defense. ” said Gonzales

The Warriors won the game after a long rest due to recent weather conditions

“It felt good to play after a long break from softball. Ten days of not playing because of rain made today feel great.” expressed Gonzales
