Lincoln, Smith pose doubles threat for Royals

Evan Lincoln and Adam Smith swept three sets in their first start together, leading San Marcos’ boys tennis team to a 14-4 victory over Buena in a Channel League matchup on Tuesday.

Lincoln and Smith won their three sets 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 as the Royals did not drop a single doubles set while only dropping five games.

“Adam and Evan served well and were very aggressive at the net,” said Royals head coach Jarrod Bradley. “They played like they’ve been partners for years but this is the first time they’ve played together. I’m really excited for them.”

In singles, Petar Jivkov swept his sets 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 while Travis Enholm came back from 0-3 down in his second set to win 7-5 against Buena’s No. 1 Peter Prudhomme.

“I thought I was watching Johnny Mac or Pete with all the serves and amazing volleys Travis was making in his second and third sets,” said Bradley, “He really did a great job at the net and was fun to watch.”

The Royals improve to 5-2 overall, 2-1 in league while Buena falls to 0-5, 0-3.

The Royals play at San Luis Obispo on Wednesday and host Cate on Friday before taking a week off for spring break.
