Dos Pueblos bats quieted by Hart ace Glasnow

Gabe Speier turned in a solid pitching performance, but Dos Pueblos’ offense was stymied by Hart’s 6-foot-7 standout pitcher Tyler Glasnow and suffered a 2-1 baseball loss on Friday in the season-opener for both teams.

“It was a good competitive game,” DP coach Nate Mendoza said. “That pitcher had our number today.”

Hart scored its runs in the first inning and was shut down the rest of the way by Speier and Joe Huthsing.

“Gabe pitched an excellent game,” Mendoza said. “He pitched five innings, walked two, gave up only two earned runs and six hits. It was a good outing.”

Porfi Avila scored DP’s run on a passed ball in the third inning. The Chargers had the bases loaded with one out, but Glasnow struck out Huthsing and Michael Spiritosanto to end the threat.

The game was part of the Easton Tourament. DP continues tourney play today at home against L.A. Cleveland.
