Dons rip the ball in rout against Verdugo Hills

Top-ranked Santa Barbara’s offense broke loose for 14 hits in an 11-1 rout over Verdugo Hills in the Chatsworth Tournament on Saturday.

“It was our best offensive game of the year, by far,” said Santa Barbara assistant Mike Cooney. “They weren’t bad pitchers, our kids came out ready to hit.”

Collin Dewell went 4-for-4, including a two-run homer in the third inning, and finished with four RBIs. Spencer Fraker went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Pepe Gil smacked a two-run single and had three RBIs.

The Dons (8-1) return home Tuesday for a Channel League game against Ventura.
