Carpinteria swept by Cabrillo

An error in the seventh inning and a slow start in the second game led to a pair of losses by Carpinteria against visiting Cabrillo in a non-league doubleheader on Saturday.

In the opener, a two-out error allowed Jeff Aldridge to score the deciding run in a 4-3 win by Cabrillo.

Pepe Carrillo of Carpinteria had two hits and two RBIs and Colton Rubio pitched a complete game for the Warriors. He had seven strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Cabrillo scored four runs in the first inning and Carpinteria was unable to recover, losing 7-3.

“We had a little trouble on the hill and they got a couple of hits,” said Carpinteria coach Pat Cooney of the slow start.
