Bishop spikers use a broom against St. Joseph

Johnny Brand had 17 kills with just two errors on Wednesday as the Bishop Diego boys volleyball team swept visiting St. Joseph 25-16, 25-22, 25-21.

Brand also had a strong passing night along with Ben Kwock, according to coach Jason Donnelly.

“Ben is one of the basketball players coming off an amazing run to the state tournament. Now that he’s in volleyball mode, he will be a big asset to our team in the back row. He’s a very good athlete,” said Donnelly, adding that Kwock had a block and a kill in the front row as well.

Nic Mon added nine kills for the Cardinals (7-4), who came back from a significant deficit midway through the third set to clinch the sweep. Tri-Valley League play begins on the road at Oak Park on Thursday.
