Bishop Diego gets an early jump on Santa Paula

Bishop Diego baseball erupted early with eight runs in the first two innings to defeat Santa Paula 9-1 on Wednesday.

Cody Yokubaitis had a strong performance, pitching all seven innings and allowing only one run in the second and three hits total for the game.

Shortstop Sam Kwock also had  a big game, gathering three runs and one hit, while Reese Moulton and Hank Vanderfin had a combined 6 RBIs for the day.

“Reese and Hank played great. It was good all around baseball today.” said coach Dan Yokubaitis

Kwock was also largely responsible for three of the runs in the second that put the game away early. After a walk to first, Kwock managed to steal second. With Yokubaitis on with a single, Moulton managed to hit a big two-run double to raise the score to 6-0

Jacob Salcedo also gathered two runs for the day, while Jack Gregson and Dakotah Sutton each had a run early in the game.

The Cardinals now jump to 5-1 for the season. Their next game is at Fillmore this Friday.
