Arianna Leos pitched a one-hitter and Madison Dochterman scored a run and drove in another to lead Santa Barbara to a season-opening softball win at Hueneme.
The game marked the debut of Alex Sheldon as Santa Barbara’s coach.
“It was a good start to the season for us. Hopefully, we can build off it,” said Sheldon, who formerly coached at San Marcos.
Dochterman scored on a wild pitch in the first inning to give Leos the lead.
Leos, making her first varsity start, struck out six, walked two and gave up a double in the fourth inning.
Angela Biancone had a two-run single in the seventh for the Dons, who play at Santa Ynez today.
