Timothy Leary brought Westmont back from a loss in the first game of a double-header on Saturday, hurling a seven-inning complete-game for the Warriors in a 5-1 defeat of visiting Oregon Tech.

In the first game, the Hustlin’ Owls secured a 3-2 victory despite being out-hit by the Warriors 9-7. Westmont runs its early-season record to 5-2 after the double-header split. Oregon Tech is 3-5.

Leary struck out four batters and allowed four hits to pick up his second victory of the season. Leary, a 6’8″, 270-pound junior, helped himself out at the plate with a two-run homer in the third inning. Leary reached base in two of three plate appearances and finished with three RBIs and a run scored in addition to the home run.

Jordan Bottenfield added two RBIs for the Warriors in the second game. JJ Durbin recorded three hits in six at-bats and is now 14-for-29 on the season.

Game 1 went to Oregon as the Owls took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth before Westmont answered with two in the bottom half of the inning. Mitch Petrak’s RBI single knocked in Tim Leary and Coby Cress later scored from third base on an error.
