UCSB sweeps three-game trip

BERKELEY – Wrapping up a three game road trip in Northern California, No. 12 UCSB (3-0) posted an impressive win over Sonoma State (1-3), 15-4, in a non-conference game.

Senior Kristin Kulakowski led the game in scoring with four goals, while freshmen Molly Hafferkamp was close behind her with three scores.

Hafferkamp seems to have adjusted to the college-level of play very easily. She has seven goals in three games as a Gaucho.

For the first time in her senior year, Kathryn Nelson did not record a hat trick. She did post a goal in the first period though.

UCSB was consistent over the course of the game scoring four goals in each quarter except the last, which they only scored three. They also played consistent defense shutting out the seawolves in the first quarter and holding Sonoma State to only four goals.

In the mini-tournament Sonoma State lost to not only the Gauchos, 15-4, but also to Cal Baptist, 11-5, and California, 19-2.

The Gauchos get a week off before they return home for a double-header against Michigan and Concordia on Friday, Jan. 28 at Campus Pool. The first game will begin at 11 AM and the second at 3:30 PM.
