Heil honored as Far West Coach of the Year

Todd Heil guided Santa Barbara High to its best boys soccer season in school history in 2009-2010, and his effort has been recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Heil has been named the 2010 Division 1 Coach of the Year for the Far West Region by the NSCAA. He is one of 46 coaches from around the country to receive a regional honor and is eligible for selection as the National Coach of the Year for high schools.

The national awards in various prep divisions will be announced at the NSCAA Awards Banquet on Jan. 14 in Baltimore.

Heil coached the tradition-rich Dons program to stratsopheric heights last season. They went 31-1-1, won the CIF Division 2 championship (the program’s sixth CIF title and the second under him) and finished as runner-up in the regional tournament.

Santa Barbara is currently on a 13-match unbeaten and nine-game winning streak.
