Free throws cause problems for Cardinals

Bishop Diego’s free throws weren’t falling on Saturday but the Cardinals did, tumbling 58-41 to Nordhoff in a Tri-Valley League contest.

“It just felt like an uphill climb the whole way through,” said Cardinals head coach Jeff Burich.

Bishop missed 20 free throws that could have been points.

“Free throws got us,” Burich said.

Allison Breuer posted a double-double to lead the Cardinals, collecting totals of 10 points and 12 rebounds. Essence Thornhill added eight points for Bishop Diego.

The Cardinals play another strong league opponent on Tuesday with a matchup against Santa Clara.
