Sergey Sushchikh finished in 28th at the Foot Locker national championships.
Dos Pueblos’ Sergey Sushchikh exceeded expectations at the Foot Locker XC Championships on Saturday, placing 28th overall in the national championship event in San Diego.
Sushchikh was seeded 40th pre-race but finished 28th with a time of 15:49. The Dos Pueblos senior overcame five of the nine runners who were ahead of him last week at the western regional.
“It was an incredibly fast race and Sergey’s calm demeanor was his best trait today,” noted DP cross country coach Leslie Roth. “We are so proud of his accomplishments this season.”
