Slow start costs Bishop in loss to Fillmore

Bishop Diego was unable to overcome a slow start and dropped a 57-49 decision to Fillmore in a pool-play game at the Jim Bashore Classic in Carpinteria on Friday.

Noah Tack scored 16 points and Elias Munoz added 12 for the Cardinals, who fell behind 17-9 in the first quarter.

“We came out a little flat and missed a lot of shots we should have made,” Bishop coach Dean Prophet said. “We let them get off to a fast start.”

Johnny Diaz added seven points and Paul Garcia had three assists and five steals for Bishop (3-4), which plays Nordhoff on Saturday at noon.
