Santa Barbara girls earn a tie against Oxnard

Santa Barbara girls soccer coach Brian Lloyd saw improvement in his team in Thursday’s 1-1 tie against visiting Oxnard.

“We’re playing better than our results,” Lloyd said after his team’s record went to 0-2-1. “We’re playing good competition. We played fantastic soccer the first half.”

The Dons did some nice work to take a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. Karly Graf scored off an assist from Dena Slaff.

Oxnard tied the score in the 60th minute.

“Krista Jimenez, our center back, played in goal because our goalkeeper was injured,” said Lloyd.

The Dons (0-2-1) had an apparent go-ahead goal in the last five minutes nullified by an offsides call.
